A selection of Lifesaving medals that I've had an opportunity to photograph over the years, both in museums and private collections.
Medals are show in the order of the date of the action.

Buyer Beware! - An authentic medal (probably 1930s era) which has been fraudulently engraved to a Marine Corps recipient. This piece was sold by a London auction house in 2013 for £1800. Fortunately the buyer soon discovered that the engraving was fake and returned it for a full refund. The same firm resold the medal in 2016 a "junk lot" for £190. It's almost certain to reappear in the collector community at some point in the future.
Below - The Lifesaving Medal register shows that Presley's actual medal was engraved "To Russell A. Presley for bravely rescuing a fellow soldier, Aug 28, 1914".
