An honorary New Zealand Returned Soldiers Association badge in 18ct gold to Field Marshall Viscount Allenby.
Allenby commanded Anzac forces during the Middle Eastern Campaign of 1917-18. He was made a Field Marshall in 1919 and retired in 1925. The following year he toured Australia and New Zealand. While in Wellington he was made an honorary life member of the Returned Soldiers' Association and given this specially made gold badge.
Allenby's medals are in the collection of the Imperial War Museum in London.
